Sgurr an Eilein Ghiubhais - "Peak of the Island Fir" - 522m.
This is a hill we have climbed twice and was entirely different on each occasion. The first time in 2006 and again in 2008. This log has pictures both times.
Some Sgurr an Eilein Ghiubhais facts!
I'm trying to find some!
This hill towers over the sea and it's position on the west coast gives it superlative views - sometimes the best hills really aren't Munros!
So our first venture up Sgurr an Eilein Ghiubhais was in the early Braxony year of 2006. We were on holiday in Mallaig staying at the beautiful hunting lodge Glasnachardoch. (The holiday was wonderfully organised by Astrid and Anna). A largish bunch of us started the walk along a path to Loch Eireagoraidh. It was a wonderfully sunny day and we all had lunch by the loch and admired the tadpoles. (See pics).
As far as I recall the others headed back after lunch and Braxony headed up the hill. I remember it being the most wonderful walk. Extremely sunny and when you reached the top just amazing views. This is one of the only times however we have run out of water and I do remember suffering with thirst. (We have learnt always to bring more water than you think you will need now). The pictures show what an amazing day it was and the condensation on the lens about fits with my soft-focus memory of the whole walk. A wonderful day out although we did suffer from sunburn later!

In 2008 we were holidaying once again in the Mallaig area. This time staying at Glenancross, (again organised by Astrid), and we tackled the hill for a second time. Although it was again a wonderful walk the weather was not quite so kind to us and the visibility was certainly less. This time we headed up the hill on mass. I am not sure entirely who went but the photo's certainly show, Braxony, Preston, Virginia, Anna & Clara.
